Permits and Property or Development Inquiries
If you are working in and around open water, streams or rivers, wetlands or swamps, then you will require a permit.
Have you been told to inquire about a permit by your local building department? Do you have questions about a property you wish to purchase or wish to develop on? Submit an Inquiry Form as your first step.
Conservation performs important roles in development and planning as a regulator under the Conservation Authorities Act. Learn more about our Development Regulations – Prohibited Activities, Exemptions and Permits (Ontario Regulation 41/24) on our Apply for a Permit page.
Planning
Conservation plays an important role during the planning process. As a commenting agency under the Planning Act, we review all planning applications. Our main role is to guide development away from natural hazards such as floodplains. The planning process starts with your local municipality. Please contact them to begin the consultation process.
